Letter:
Peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of Allah, respected Shaykh, teacher of teachers…
I am writing from India.
I am not sure whether this number actually belongs to the renowned Dr Akram Nadwi or not. Today, after joining the community, I received this number as the community admin’s contact. I do not know whether my message will be acceptable or cause displeasure.
About a year ago I joined your channel, and since then I have been reading your articles and posts. All of them are instructive and praiseworthy.
Today, however, an article you wrote about asking questions truly touched my heart; it felt as though it were the very voice of my own soul. That is why I felt compelled to search for your number.
I would always see questions from others posted on the channel, and—mā shā’ Allāh, lā quwwata illā billāh—the questions and answers were presented so beautifully. I used to wish I could ask a question too, but I had no means to do so.
Today I came across this number, though I am still uncertain whether it is yours. If it is not, kindly forward my message to Dr Shaykh Muhammad Akram Nadwi, and, with his permission, please send me his number.
If, in writing this lengthy feedback, I have shown any discourtesy, I apologise in advance.
May Allah reward you with abundant goodness.
Reply:
Peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of Allah.
I have read your warm-hearted letter. I am deeply grateful for the sincerity, courtesy, and closeness with which you expressed your thoughts. The truthfulness, thirst for knowledge, and good opinion of others that shine through your words are truly moving.
I was delighted to learn that you have been reading and benefiting from the writings for some time. For a writer there is no greater joy than for his words to reach another heart, stir reflection, and prove useful. The attention, seriousness, and appreciation you show are signs of your refined taste and sound understanding.
It brings me special happiness that the piece on asking questions touched your heart and that you felt it voiced your own feelings. In the quest for knowledge, asking questions is no flaw; it is a mark of insight and discernment. Those who advance are precisely those who have the courage to clear up their doubts.
Please feel free to send your questions without hesitation. If Allah grants success, I shall try to answer them. I pray that Allah bless your love of learning, grant you a true understanding of the religion, and enrich you with beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds.
May Allah reward you with abundant good and bless you.
Dr Muhammad Akram Nadwi
