Biography and SeerahTravelogues

Two years ago, when I accompanied Shaykh Akram Nadwi for Hajj, there was a conference in Makkah. Imams and Du’āt from all over the world were present there, including the Imams of Haramayn. Shaykh Akram was also invited. Out of his humility, he asked me to accompany him. Many of the Imams spoke about their activities, and the challenges they face in their respective countries, with a lot of talk focusing on politics and theology. The conference director then asked Shaykh Akram to say a few words. He spoke about the challenges we Muslims are facing in the West, and how people are constantly asking philosophical questions, and questions related to the Sirah, Islamic history, and the role and status of women in Islam. He touched upon his new book on female scholars, Al-Wafa, and how it answers some of the above questions. After his talk, many walked up to Shaykh Akram and offered him their heartfelt Du’ās. The Imam of al-Masjid al-Haram, Faisal Ghazzawi, walked towards Shaykh Akram and asked whether his book was published and in how many volumes. Shaykh Akram replied it was getting published soon, in 40 volumes (by now, it is published in 43 volumes). Ghazzawi was pleased and hugged Shaykh Akram.

I was just lucky to witness a Sub-Continent scholar captivating the minds and attention of the elite scholars of the Arab World. May Allah جل جلاله grant Shaykh Akram a long life and give us the ability to benefit from him.
