A Muslim should refrain from frequently saying ‘this is Halal, this is Haram’

Qurtubi said in his Tafseer of the verse (Q16:116):
‘And do not say, asserting falsely with your tongues,, `This is lawful and that is unlawful, ́ lest you should forge a lie against Allah. Those who forge lies against Allah will never succeed’

Abu Muhammad al-Darimi said in his Musnad: Harun informed us from Hafs from A’mash who said ‘I did not hear Ibrahim ever say Halal or Haram. Rather, he would say ‘they disliked’ or ‘they encouraged’

Ibn Wahb said that Malik said: “People did not give fatwas saying ‘this is halal and this is haram’. Rather, they should say ‘beware of this and that’ and ‘I would not do this’.”
