Difference between Prophet’s appeal and our appeal

by: Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi
Oxford

When the Prophet faced impossible odds at Badr and prayed for help, he did not pray for God to save him or his group or even his religion. His concern was if Muslims were defeated and humiliated, the name of God would be vilified, and cease to be glorified.
By contrast Muslims in our time when they appeal to God for help in any impossible situation, it is for themselves and for their own victory, glory and safety, their primary concern is not the glorification of God in the world.
